Effective 1st April  2026, Kenta Kon officially assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Toyota Motor Corporation, succeeding Koji Sato. The leadership transition was announced on the 6th of February 2026.

Kon, who joined Toyota in 1991, brings extensive financial and operational expertise to his new position. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer and played a key role in improving Toyota’s earnings structure while gaining cross-functional management experience at Woven by Toyota, the company’s mobility technology subsidiary. He also served as secretary to Chairman Akio Toyoda for eight years.

In his new capacity, Kon is focused on enhancing Toyota’s earning power, reducing break-even volume, and leading internal company management reforms. His appointment reflects Toyota’s strategic emphasis on financial discipline and operational efficiency as the automotive industry faces intensifying global competition.
